In case you’ve missed the quick link, this Hunt interview will cheer up your gloomy British Monday afternoon. If you’re in Britain. If you’re not, we all still talk like this…
You’d never get a driver like him today, can you imagine Lewis Hamilton asking for a cigarette on the podium? And his “9 points, $20,000 and alot of happiness” line is a classic
So many good Hunt stories from his racing days – but he was a hugely entertaining commentator too, never afraid of speaking his mind. A mate of mine tells a story about the day back in the early 90’s when his office sent him to pick Hunt up from the train station to deliver him to some function or other. My pal couldn’t believe his luck and started asking all sorts of questions. “So James, how do you rate Martin Brundle?” he asked. “He’s a very good medium speed formula one driver” came the reply. The sport SO misses such directness these days…
Such a nice chap, too bad today F1 drivers are all such pussies, they should follow the lead and be more like good old Max, i bet they wouldn’t even have to pay for the girls being young and rich
what a geezer, rolls out of a nightclub with a bottle of bubbly a couple of fit fillies hanging off each arm gets in an F1 car half an hour later then wins a grand prix.top bloke in my book , they dont make em’ like that anymore ..shame..long may his memory live on
i wish there were people like him on the track these days… f1 has been transformed into a commercial hub. Gone are the days of stupidly crazy lunatic unsafe racing.
