Go on over to Formula1.com and watch their video of the weekend’s grand prix. it only takes about three minutes to view, and they have done another excellent job. (They’ve also used that brilliant Pendulum track too.)
Ohh very subtle at the end! Great vid tho. You’d think from the clips they have chosen they acutally like wheel to wheel racing as much as we do.
I read that McLaren are to continue with their appeal. Maybe one of you cleaver clogs can tell me what the procedure is from here. Will there be a wait till the hearing, it would be unfortunate to head into the last race with the outcome depending on an offtrack hearing.
Will it be televised. It could be the first of BBC’s coverage!
- I want the truth
- you can’t handle the truth
- Did you cut the chicane
- You’re damn ………
I agree, they always make fantastic race videos and it’s really good to relive the best race of the season. Also, in my opinion the stewards failed… with the decision to give… Glock a 25 second penalty- as he said: he was on different tyres to Webber and therefore was much faster and appeared to take him after the green flags at the chicane. But i don’t see anyone fussing about that decision- which cost Toyota a point (which can be very important in F1- just ask Lewis Hamilton about the margin last year…)
I do think that Lewis Hamilton drove in Belgium one of his best races to date. But I do however disagree with all opinions that Hamilton’s penalty was not legitimate…
When Hamilton cut the chicane he did not slow down, but on the contrary he pushed very hard out of the Chicane and drove parallel to Kimi almost till the start-fininsh line before he left his foot off the throttle. And he did not even leave a remarkable margine…to finally outpace the Ferrari before La Source. All this shows the definite advantage Hamilton got through cutting the chicane.Kimi on the other hand was not smart enough to brake a little more to underline the advantage Hamilton got!
I saw the video of the last 2 laps 10 times and what I am saying is very obvious. And the FIA rules are very clear, too.
“The only exception is when the penalty is awarded during the final five laps of the race. In this case the driver may continue and complete the race. However, 25 seconds will be added to his total race time, which may drop him considerably in the final race standings.”
As a matter of fact,I also do not think that Kimi’s title struggle is over. With 5 races to go and 50 points ready to be taken, the championship is still a triple fight and far from being over!
H – The hearing will take place as soon as possible after the protest has been lodged. Obviously it’s not going to happen too quickly as they’re all a little busy with the Italian GP right now and they have to make sure that all parties are informed correctly and such like. On the plus side, Bernie wouldn’t want the outcome of the championship decided after the last race, so it’ll happen before then.
However, the 1st thing they’ll have to decide is if the protest is allowed. Teams are not allowed to protest stop/go penalties, which the 25 seconds represents.
Does the ‘F’ in FIA and F1 stand for FERRARI?
If this stewards ruling stands, people who are already bored with F1 will be switching off in their thousands! Announcing this decision 2 hours after the race and presentation shows just how ‘backward’ this sport has become. I am not a Mclaren fan, love Ferrari, but this just does it totally for me and no doubt thousands of others. Come on Ferrari do the decent thing and support the real winner!
The FIA seem determined to destroy Formula 1. In an age where you’ll see more overtaking in one corner of a BTCC race than in entire seasons for Formula 1, in step the FIA with stewards enquiries and post race penalties to ruin any close racing we are lucky enough to see.
And with last weekend’s race at Spa they managed to surpass themselves with what was surely the most ridiculous decision they’ve made to date and in the process nullified the result of the most exciting conclusion to a Grand Prix seen in years.
Once again demonstrating blatant favour for Ferrari, the FIA chose to ignore that Hamilton was ahead of Raikkonen into the corner and therefore did not have to let him back past, despite the fact that he did so anyway to avoid being penalised by the retarded stewards.
Furthermore if you disagree with the above, the decision was also clearly ridiculous as the pass had no baring on the outcome of the race and thus shouldn’t have warranted a stewards enquiry at all.
Oh, and if you disagree FIREBLADE, in a radio interview on the day following the Grand Prix, Sterling Moss expressed his support for McLaren’s appeal against the ridiculous decision.
Perhaps of greater importance than this single decision is what should happen next to prevent spaztick stewards from ruining Formula 1. I say get rid of the FIA entirely,I think we’ve had enough of there Ferrari Faschism by now and the manufacturers are clearly capable of filling their role much more successfully.
Oh, and for good measure get rid of that cock James Allen too. What a cock!
What a great video. I got chills when it showed them them round Eau Rouge for the first time as the music picked up. That’s my favorite track off of In Silico too. Formula One and Pendulum were meant to be.
The penalty for Hamilton was clearly out of order. People have done similar moves in the past where the position was not given back and escaped penalty so how come Hamilton gets a penalty when he does give the place back.
He did give the place back, but he clearly benefitted from it in the long run. There’s no way he would have gotten that close to him if he hadn’t done what he did.
I think Hamilton played fair. He conceded the position and then was rear ended which caused the nose spoiler on the Ferrari to deform. No downforce in the next corner and the Ferrari hit the wall. I personally am a fan of Ferrari and I don’t like McClaren. Kimi, sabotaged his own race by hitting Lewis’s rear end and messing up the front end of his car. Classic Road rage. Ferrari has the money and of course F1 is going to think with their cheque book in mind. Go Ferrari!… concede that Hamilton was fair. This is what good sportsmanship is about. I wish Ferrari were correct in this situation, they are not.
I REMEMBER NOT MANY WEEKS BACK THE MOTORCYCLE MOTO GP WAS HELD IN AMERICA AND VALENTINO BASICALLY GAVE STONER A LESSON IN WHAT RACING IS ALL ABOUT, STONER AFTER THE RACE DID NOTHING BUT WINGE ABOUT VALENTINOS OVERTAKING. VALENTINO REPLIED TO THAT “WELL IF HE STOPS PASSING ME ON THE STRAIGHTS I WILL STOP PASSING HIM ON THE CORNERS”.
I HAVE TO SAY THE MOTO GP RACING AT THIS MOMENT IN THE SEASON IS PROBABLY THE BEST IT’S BEEN SINCE THE SHEENE/ROBERTS RACING MANY YEARS BACK.
IT’S RACING FOR GODS SAKE AND ICIDENTS HAPPEN THE FIA SHOULD LEAVE THE RACING TO THE TEAMS AND STOP SCREWING UP THE “SPORT” OR ARE THEY WORRIED ABOUT THE MAFIA SO MUCH THAT THE RED TEAM MUST WIN NO MATTER WHAT.
F1 SHOULD TAKE A LESSON FROM MOTO GP, THE RACING THROUHGOUT THE FIELD IN ONE RACE IS FAR BETTER THAN A WHOLE SEASON OF F1, (THINK ABOUT IT BERNIE YOU COULD CHARGE THE TV COMPANIES TEN TIMES WHAT YOU CHARGE NOW!!!!!!!!
Lets be honest with ourselves here, and this is a moral tale for the BBC’s future coverage, F1 has been steadly loosing viewers and fans over the last few years. Very soon it’ll be last out – turn off the lights.
But why?
Here’s my two cents, during the latter Shuey years, all we ever saw was a red car going around in circles. You’d be forgiven for thinking it was a forgone conclusion. This is where is starts to go off. It was enough to catch the sports headlines on the radio the next morning…
But, in truth there was loads going on down the track – but you never saw it. The exception that proved the rule was Sato in a Jordan in Japan a few years ago (one of you F1 PHDs can fill in the year). With the title long since wrapped up, the local race director just showed Sato driving his little heart out, which ment we got to see loads of racing in the midfield. Sure every other lap we jumped back to see M.S. dominating. And then back to the local boy doing his best.
As it happens Glock is upset over Spa too – but that’s bearly got a mention, you probably don’t really care either. But why would you. Why do we care about Hamilton?
So here’s my suggestion to get a little passion back into F1. The FIA can play around with silly rules and formats all they like – it won’t make a differance. We need to see the storys, the passion, the winners and the loosers. Just look at the reaction to this story even in this blog.
So BBC you’ve probably paid big money for the rights, so you don’t want to televise a parade. There has only been, what, one sucessful overtake for first place this year – but let’s see what’s happening down the field. Who’s the rookie punching above his weight? What’s the past master showing in a poorer car? The race director will listen to the pay check, not read the blogs.
I don’t want to be the last one here.
(but if I am can I keep the pit girls?)
ill not go H. you can go first so i get the pit girls.
Ur right, we never see the action down the field unless lewis is down there but in truth, there never is action down the field, or anywhere in the field to be exact.
The only pass for the lead was lewis hamilton at silverstone werent it on kovaleinen. im sure massa passed raikkonen aswell in france.
Amazing, they managed to make something boring look really exciting!
H – You want the BBC to show more of the midfield. Unfortunately that is impossible everywhere except Britian. The broadcasters all buy coverage from FOM, so it’s what they’re given is what you get.
Shout at Bernie if you don’t like it.
the Penalty, It’s interesting to note that in Italy, 75% of the people questioned by Gazetto del sporto said that the penalty was justified. Here it’s the other way around. Hmm.
After attending the race from the paddock I must say that everybody was so excited to see the race ending the way it finished. Finally some real good racing! Only on the way home we learned the FIA was screwing the race result. After last year this confirms again the sick making feeling that the FIA and Ferrari are to close. It is a shame to see another sport being messed by politics. After Balestre Mosley was a relief but I think he is in the seat too long now….
“Fia and ferrari are too close”
“Fia is controlled by Ferrari”
And what about the fact that Fia in 2007 discharged McLaren for the spy-story against Ferrari? What about the fact that after MacLaren was considered guilty, Lewis continued to race with a car that obviously should be disqualified?
i am so upset ferrari sucks bigtime they should call it formula ferrari not formula1, lewis gave back lead to kimi! how can they penalize him and say he didnt give enough of a gap total rubbish just like last year he should have won championship but they made massa give race to kimi so he could win championship, so much for no team orders!

Great video. Well done guys at the formula1.com website.
Too bad such a great race will probably be remembered by the penalty, not on the race itself.
What a great video. I got chills when it showed them them round Eau Rouge for the first time as the music picked up. That’s my favorite track off of In Silico too. Formula One and Pendulum were meant to be.
Great stuff.
Now bring on Monza.
Just in case you have not seen it there is a online petition http://www.petitiononline .com/mod_perl/signed.cgi? belgp08&1 and it has just passed 50,000 and by the way Suresh not all are angry Brits, in fact they are 100% motorsport fans

Simple as that really.

It’s controlled by Ferrari so they will use leverage to obtain the Red result.

sick video. the music went well with the action and the action was goood.
sick means good
This one is a seriously good vid. I usually hate music + race videos, but the one’s in F1’s website are all very good.
Heikki’s pass on Piquet looks epic in the same way as Alonso on Schumi at 130R.
Amazing, they managed to make something boring look really exciting!

Yes I totally agree……..Ferrari has MAFIA connexs
Finally I have found out what FIA stands for:-
FERRARI INTERNATIONAL ASSISTANCE
