Nice to see Massa up and about, but his black eye and Hammer horror scar serve as a salutary reminder of the fallibility of even the latest technology, and of us mere mortals that rely upon it.
It’s weird to see a modern day F1 driver literally bearing the scars of his craft in a sport that seems improbably safe these days.
Too safe for some, it would seem. In his unending quest for personal injury, Top Gear’s favourite enfant terrible Kimi Raikkonen has taken it upon himself to go rallying:
And drinking:
Not at the same time mind. At least we hope not. Although you’d be forgiven for wondering…

I hope Massa gets well soon and I think Kimi should do rallying a lot more.

I, like most people, can’t wait to see Schumacher racing against Kimi and the rest of the grid..but I feel there’s way too much expectation being put on the German – I just hope he can still cut it at the front or the TG site will be inundated with predictable “Fail!!”,”Loser!!” comments after Valencia.
So many thick occasional F1 fans who didn’t even see Schumacher race before think that he’s got to live up to all the hype. Oh well, I hope he makes a good go of it. As for Kimi, definitely a wake-up call..and i still think that when he’s on-form, there’s noone faster

I don’t think Schumacher will dissapoint. He is, like it or not, a genius driver. and a lot of the drivers he raced against are still there, and there are no reasons why he should suddenly be outclassed by them, except for his fitness. and do we really believe he never kept in shape?
He went through so many different types of car, i doubt he will struggle with the new F1 cars. I reckon you can write him off for Valencia, but expect a win before the end of the season.
Alonso / Kubica for 2010. Like i said on the other blog. Massa won’t be back. Sadly.

“unending quest for personal injury” one of the best statements I’ve read this year.
The best part was the coolness when he left the car, with the Ferrari cap and glasses on!. KIMI, DON’T LEAVE US!!! WE NEED YOU!!!!

Kimi really should go rallying. He seems a lot happier flicking his car about than driving smooth lines. I like the Iceking, he makes me laugh with every interview he does, and I’ll miss him when he’s gone. But he’s not the best F1 driver, not by a long way. He doesn’t care enough to be a winner. His championship was a bit of a fluke since Alonso and Hamilton had a bit of a tiff that year, and Kimi was the proverbial 3rd dog that got away with the bone.

I heard that until he crashed he was faster than his team-mate who had an upgraded car and has been rallying profesionaly for 2 years.

Some say that he has a portable freezer in his rally car and that he once asked Bernie if there could be an off-road section at every GP, all we know is they call him the Iceman…

He seems to be doing a lot better than other F1 that have tried rallying in the past. And he seems to be approaching it with what passes, with Kimi, for seriousness.

What the heck is this? Kimi does not even drink anymore, he banned all alcohol well over half a year ago.
And the talk that Kimi is not interested or motivated to drive F1 anymore is complete and utter bollocks.
I can assure you, that he is really waiting to get to work on the next years car, because he really wants to be competetive again.
And dont tell me i dont know what im talking about, because i do, i know Kimi’s brother.

Kimi did really well in the Finnish rally. Well, right up to the moment he crashed. He was 17th overall, and third in his own class of cars. Not bad, considering it was his first long rally, and he was driving that Fiat, wich fell to pieces at every stage.

Kimi rallying, well he has a lot to learn, but watching him is fun, and in a better car he would be able to show his talent. The Fiat is rubbish, put him in a good car please, and let him do his thing.

The Fiat is not rubbish overall, just on rough gravel, as in the Finnish rally. The Fiat goes pretty well on snow and tarmac, actually.
But i agree Kimi would be better off with a Fiesta S2000, wich is the best rally car in that class. But since he’s a Ferrari driver, so the Fiat was kind of a obvious choise…

Kimi should retire and go rallying so that he said he wanted his last team to be Ferrari.
Kubica and Rosberg at Brawn
Button and Hamilton at McLaren
Alonso and Massa at Ferrari
