Boys from Brazil

If today’s first practice at the Brazilian GP is anything to go by, then this weekend’s race could prove to be nearly as manic as last year’s.

Rain, crashes, red flags, and multiple telly shots of Felipe Massa returning to F1’s inner sanctum for the first time since his accident in Hungary, it was the most hectic first session of the year so far.

On track, Red Bull’s Mark Webber showed that the RB5 has good speed at Interlagos, which is rather ominous for Jenson Button’s title chances, although teammate Rubens Barrichello made his Brawn shine for the second quickest time.

Third place title challenger Sebastian Vettel posted third fastest, just ahead of Heikki Kovalainen and Lewis Hamilton, respectively, in the McLarens.

But as we know, you can never gauge what’s going to happen in the race from the practice sheet, so you’ll just have to make predictions.

However, if the wags from a Brazilian telly show were successful in jinxing Button – when they placed a ladder over the doorway of a restaurant he was due to walk through – then Barrichello may be in luck.

Although if Jenson finishes on the podium this weekend, then the title’s his. Either way, it’s going to be an exciting race.

Check the full practice placings on BBC Sport.

In the dry, Trulli would be the dark horse and I’d have to say him. In the wet, Vettel for sure. Practice Two sees Buemi provisionally leading though (Good news for The stigs owner)

Nice – but lets stay realistic

No matter what – Jenson has just to gain 6 more points then he will be through.

So its not the question whether he will win it, but whether he will be able to loose it.

Its a great cocktail for sunday eve – so lets enjoy it

Order for Practice Two at Interlagos:
Alonso (1:12.314), Buemi (1:12.357), Barrichello (1:12.459), Webber (1:12.517) and Button (1:12.503) the top 5, followed by Trulli (1:12.605), Vettel (1:12.611), Rosberg (1:12.633), Sutil (1:12.720), and Hamilton (1:12.749). Grosjean was 11th with a 1:12.806, which at least made up slightly for crashing into the polystyrene hoarding in first Practice. He was followed by Kubica (1:12.862), Kobayashi (1:12.869) – who I think has done a brilliant job considering the weather and his track experience – Nakajima (1:12.929), Heidfeld (1:12.948), Liuzzi (1:12.950), Kovalainen (1:12.992), Raikkonen (1:13.026), Alguersuari (1:13.041) and last is Fisichella (1:13.275) who stopped at Turn 1 with mechanical problems.

Heidfeld was fastest down the Speed Trap, surprisingly, doing 310.1km/h. Not surprisingly, though, the 4 Toyota-engined cars were the 4 slowest, around 10km/h slower than Heidfeld. Trulli made up for that – to an extent at least – by being fastest through Sector 2 by at least a tenth of a second.

Sorry if you were going to do an article about Practice Two, Mr Hibbard

Guys, is this Buemi thing some joke? I know he was 2nd in Practice, ok, but it’s practice!

Other side of me says: if you’re kidding; then Buemi won’t win he’ll be 2nd to Kobayashi!

    Top 8 Finishers:
    1. Barrichello
    2. Vettel
    3. Webber
    4. Hamilton
    5. Buemi
    6. Kovalainen
    7. Rosberg
    8. Button

Then the Championship should look like this:
    1. Jenson Button – 86
    2. Rubens Barrichello – 81
    3. Sebastien Vettel – 78

Barrichello need Button to crash in Brazil so he can take lots of points out of him. Barrichello realistically needs 2 wins to become champion.

If only this yrs cars weren´t so damn ugly it would be nice. Last yr was so much better, good battle between Hamilton and Massa and great cool race cars!
Oh how I hate this snowplow frontwing and the stupid bookcase backwing, can´t look at F1 pictures on the websites without starting to feel sick. Only the testing pics of Massa in the 2007 car makes me smile again.

Gosh, all that these young drivers do is wreck cars. Almost every single race or practice. Why the hell are they putting these young drivers in F1 cars? They Jaime Alguersuari are the worst!!. Do they just love to crash cars? I guess Renault and Red Bull love to spend money on rebuilding new cars.
