It’s a strange coincidence that the current series of Top Gear is about to finish in a couple of weeks, and Mercedes GP have just announced that Michael Schumacher will be racing for them in F1 next season.
Hmmmm…
Anyway, Schumacher is back, on a three-year deal with the former Brawn/now Merc Formula 1 squad – which is frankly something of an epic early Christmas present for us all.
He’ll be racing alongside fellow German Nico Rosberg, and will reunite with his former Ferrari boss Ross Brawn, who runs the show at Merc, and with who Schumacher won a few races or something in the old days like.
It will be the first time Big Schu will have raced in F1 since his ‘retirement’ at the end of 2006, although he nearly came back earlier this year to stand-in for the injured Felipe Massa at Ferrari.
It was only a neck injury – one sustained during a motorbike race – that kept Big from the Prancing Horse cockpit that time, but that all healed and OK’d by doctors recently, so a way back to racing was a go.
As soon as Merc failed to retain current World Champion Jenson Button for next year, Big Schu became the favourite, with the most high-profile rumour monger being that of BBC Sport’s Eddie Jordan – which is a worry, ‘cos it now looks like he knows what he’s talking about.
So, the Big Mac’s back. Will he be quick? Will he be really quick? Will he regret it this time next year? How nervous are the other drivers feeling? How gutted is Nico Rosberg feeling right now?
These and many other things you are free to discuss below…

As per Gascoyne the double diffuser shld be banned, he is right, the ugly aero didn’t help overtaking at all. When will the FIA change this and bring the cars/wings back in shape, let’s say like the 2006 auditions, those were great racing cars!

so if the suposed stig goes to race for merc who will replace him because if we dont get a new stig then that sort of proves that Schumacher isnt the stig.

Michael Schumacher is my favourite racer of all time, good to hear that he will be returning in F1 in the next season. I hoped that he’ll return to drive for Ferrari though, not Mercedes. Well, anyway, good luck for Schumi in the next season, hope that he will take an 8th championship title

One mistake. Where is Schumacher?
btw .. Hamilton will be the winner!
Still hope the FIA will change the aero rules soon.
A reduce of the snowplow front wing and a re-shape of the back wing á la GP2 would do.

It is so brave of Shumi to come back! i think every is looking for the excitement expected with his come back because it is very clear that he is doing it just for the thrill of it as he has everything else acquired from F1!!

Fair Enough Micheal Schumacher Is Legendary But At The End Of His Career He Was Losing His Majic Touch To Fernando Alonso Who Was Defeated By lewis Hamilton A Year Later When They Were In The Same Team And Micheal Hasnt Competed For About 4 Years. He Is Also In A Smaller Team With A Lot Less Money Then His Old Teams. But On The Other Hand He Is Under The Guidance Of Ross Brawn.

Alonso was a winner due to the help of Michelin. Sure he is fast but not as fast as people think, rookie Hamilton blew him away! Expect this year to go between Hamilton, Vettel and Schumi. Shame the cars still look like mud with this oversized front wing and book case back wing.

Some say he’s the stig and that he didn’t deliberately take Damon Hill out (yeh right!!). But all we know is that he will see a lot of Louis and Jensen’s exhaust pipes (XXXXX fingers crossed XXXXXX).
