We weren’t expecting to say this, but… damn, isn’t Renault’s 2010 F1 car hot?
Dubbed the R30, it was unveiled yesterday sporting a waspy livery that harks back to Renault’s gorgeous Le Mans racers of the 1970s (google ‘Alpine 442B’ and you’ll see the family resemblance).
Interestingly, the team is yet to find a title sponsor, following ING’s departure last summer in the wake of NelsonFlavCrashGate. Renault, remember, only holds a minority stake in the F1 team, with Luxembourg-based investment firm Genii Capital the majority owners.
Renault also announced that Russian racer Vitaly Petrov will join Robert Kubica as their second driver. Petrov started out in the Russian Lada Cup, before heading to Formula Renault and, for the last three seasons, GP2.
He’s believed to bring about £10 million of sponsorship backing with him, but revealed over the weekend that his only financial support comes from ‘my father, my manager and my father’s friends’. Yowch. Those are some influential friends.
We’ll see whether he can keep up with Fast Bob, but for now, let’s talk paintjobs. Do you prefer the Renault… or McLaren’s MP4-25? Jenson and Lewis’s silvery new ride was revealed late last week in Newbury – looks like a quick one, don’t it?

Personally, the Petronas Merc and the Lotus are the best lookers. I’m very dissappointed with the USF1 situation, as proven with Corvette racing’s 6 Le Mans victories in the last 10 years of GT1 competition, when the a Carolina team sets its mind to something, it usually comes out on top. Would have really liked to see what that car would have looked like.
BTW, the wing changes were made to reduce turbulence caused by the cars, which made it near impossible to come up behind another F1 car and have enough grip to pass. Thus the reduction of aero-downforce with the current wings, and the introduction of KERS and slick tires.

Yellow and black sure beats renault’s old blue and yellow livery. That was down right disgusting.

The USF1 Type 1 would have been blue all over. My favourite livery is the Hispania HRT… awsome…

Reno było najlepsze z Alonso a pytanie czy Kubica też ich doprowadzi do tytuł mistrza świata?

i think that the Renault looks abit bland without the sponsors. i think that it would look alot better with just a couple of sponsors but not too many. the Mclaren looks brill.

I think the design of the Virgin Racing Teams Cars are better they don’t follow a the traditional colours of manor Motorsports cars they are using colours that stand out from the crowd of f1
