Robert Kubica has signed an ‘option’ to compete for Ferrari in the 2011 F1 World Championship, according to reports in Italy.
Kubica has been linked to the Italian outfit for some time, and the Pole would be a good fit given both his reputation as one of the paddock’s fastest drivers, hardest workers and fiercest chargers – and the fact that he spent much of his junior career racing in Italy.
According to Turin-based sports daily Tuttosport, an ‘option’ has been agreed between the two parties that expires on 15 July – and should that option be taken up, Kubica would likely partner Fernando Alonso at the Scuderia next season, in-place of present incumbent Felipe Massa.

I’ll be sorry to see Massa go. Even though I couldn’t understand why Ferrari took him in the first place because of his erratic driving, I enjoyed watching him improve over the years. I don’t think he has the outright talent that some of the other drivers have, but he managed to work at it and compete against them and even go for a championship. I have loads of respect for this guy…
