- We catch up with Robert Kubica
Robert Kubica has spent his life driving things quickly. He is the first Polish driver ever to compete in F1. In 2006 he was promoted from test driver to race driver for BMW Sauber, and continued to drive for them till 2009. In June 2008, he won his first F1 victory at the Canadian Grand […]
- Honda returns to F1 with McLaren
So McLaren have opted for the ‘let’s put the band back together’ route out of its current malaise with confirmation that, from 2015 onwards, it will once again be McLaren-Honda. It’s not been any secret that Honda, irresistibly drawn to the new 1.6-litre turbo engine formula due next season, were looking for a return to […]
- Alonso wins in Barcelona, but all the talk is about the tyres…
It’s been a while since the dominant teams in F1 were Ferrari and Lotus and my, hasn’t it all changed since then? The fast, fragile machines of the sixties and seventies eeked out narrow advantages through the relentless evolution of their engines, their suspension and chassis construction, a few shots in the dark of the […]
- So can Mercedes finally turn a pole into a win in Barcelona?
Do we finally get to see a Mercedes turn a pole a position in to a win tomorrow? Nico Rosberg starts from pole position for the second race on the trot and, just to be sure, team-mate Lewis Hamilton starts alongside. And remember, Spain is a race that is won from the front. More to […]

Vettel…in the seconds before, you can see him jerk the wheel to the right a couple of times; moving him rightwards (word?) AWAY from the edge, but into Webber’s space.
If he’d stayed straight, MAYBE Webber would’ve backed off, but they probably would’ve tangled and DNF’d anyway…

90% Vettel’s Fault
10% Webber’s
But what’s the point of being in a “team” when you do that to your team mate? Mark didn’t have to deviate from his line, but if he had, he may have scored 15 points, instead of 10… And Red Bull may have been leading the constructors…
I’m an Aussie, but still, part of me says that Mark should have given him some room…

Surely all vettel needed to do was wait till he was past webber before moving across. He just timed it wrong.
Any time you go up the inside like that you’re going to have a slightly tighter line for the corner and the guy you overtook is going to try and sit on your gearbox, get a better exit, then try and retake the position at the next corner or two.
Webber didn’t do anything wrong, he left vettel room and then it was up to vettel to make the move stick. Attempting to push webber wide at that speed at that point was a mistake, webber was never going to avoid that.

Everyone who thinks that Vettel did it deliberately is talking rubbish. Why the hell would he do it deliberately? He knows how easy it is to spin an F1 car, he wouldn’t knowingly crash into Webber, because he would know he would spin. It was his fault (as rud380y said, you can see him jerk to the right), but the idea that is was deliberate is just ridiculous.

They are both too blame. Vettel thinking Mark would back off so he could turn and Mark realizing he needed to look at his sides.

Webber. If Vettel didn’t try to overtake, sooner or later Hamilton would have gone through since Webber was slowing down the whole bunch. Of course it was an agressive move by Vettel, but they were approaching a left-hander, so he had to go over to the right. I really don’t get why Webber was driving in the middle of the road. Even when Vettel is along side him he doesn’t give way.
And of course the race-engineer who should have told Webber to let him through.

What a shame that Christian Horner has to come out and blame Webber. Just shows he is not really the team principle, try Austria for that. Anyone with any knowledge of Motor Sport can quite easily see who was to blame for this. Unfortunately, Schumacher got away with it for years, so why not Vettel? It’s very pleasing to see that Lewis is naturally so much more gifted than Seb.

It was totally Vettel’s fault. As you can see in the replay, Webber turned slightly right before the accident, while Vettel’s car rammed into him. I don’t know what nonsense is filling Vettel’s head, but he is certainly in the wrong.
