Sebastian Vettel kept himself in the hunt for a first world championship crown with victory in the Brazilian Grand Prix, but Red Bull Racing may have handed rivals Ferrari the initiative after allowing the German to head team-mate Mark Webber across the line.
The Australian continues to be RBR’s better bet for the title, but will now go to the finale in Abu Dhabi eight points adrift of Fernando Alonso instead of potentially just one behind.
Vettel led from the opening corner, having barged his way past rookie polesitter Nico Hulkenberg, while the handful of corners Webber spent behind the young German – and again working through traffic after a mid-race safety car – effectively cost him the chance to take destiny into his own hands by challenging Vettel on the road.
Alonso lost even more time behind Hulkenberg, having also had to work his way past Lewis Hamilton, and was never close enough to threaten the Red Bulls, but retained a significant championship advantage thanks to third place – and RBR’s intransigence over equality between its drivers. Red Bull, meanwhile, claimed the constructors’ title.
Hamilton and McLaren team-mate Jenson Button rounded out the top five, despite both making second tyre stops under the safety car, but while Button’s performance was notable, – not only because he came form eleventh on the grid, but having also suffered a robbery attempt on the streets of Sao Paulo after qualifying – he can no longer win the title. Hamilton, meanwhile, needs victory in Abu Dhabi with none of his rivals finishing.
Button escapes armed ambush in Brazil
Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher claimed sixth and seventh for Mercedes, having also got ahead of poleman Hulkenberg during the initial pit-stop phase, while Robert Kubica and Kamui Kobayashi filled the final points-paying positions.

s, you are just a sore loser. The front wing are legal. After countless whining by McLaren, the wings were deemed legal even when the FiA increased the load the front wong has to take. Anyway, when they started complaining about flexi-floors, didn’t McLaren have to add another strut to the splitter in order to pass the test?
(Hypocrit)

Alonso’s a cool driver and all. But his kiss-ass, fanboy, worshipors really need to stop blowing his trumpet before making immature and distasteful comments about other teams and drivers.

Alonso doesn’t deserve the title. Not even a little bit.
As much as I’d like Hamilton to win, it’s doubtful. I would like Webber to take it.

I applaud the fact that Red Bull does not perform any kind of team order.
This is real sports! And any RB driver deservers to be world champion this year. Maybe Vettel gets lucky in the last race. He would lead easy with 50 points ahead without his own mistakes, or come together with Webber.
Alonso is an arrogant, selfish but excellent driver. That is how most of the F1 pilots are. He deserves respect, never gave up, always pulled the best out of a not so competitive car and improved it the whole season, almost failure free.
He clearly dominated Massa. I am not a fanboy of Ferrari or Alonso, but he did the best job this year. I hate team order! That makes me prefer RB much more.

It was a great race. Like traveler said, alonso may be a bit selfish but his talent and consistence is undeniable. Therefore I want him to win, but if not I want Webber to win. If only Kubica had the car then formula 1 wouldnt get any better, hope he can fight for the title next year.

Ron Dennis said this to Hamilton during the first laps of the race: “Well, Lewis, Fernando is faster and better pilot than you. Confirm that you understood the message.”

Alonso still did a cracking great drive even with all the traffic.
I think Red Bull did a bad tactical move when they called in Webber exactly after one lap they pitted Vettel..
..Webber could have done a few quick hot laps which theoretically gives him the lead thus the win and also a safety net at the last event.

Go Webber. With Vettel’s help Webber will take the title next week.
Qualifying and corner 1 will be very tense, can’t wait

That looked easy, didn’t it? If Red Bull can carry that sort of pace to Abu-Dhabi, they’d be untouchable. But even that does not guarantee them the driver’s title….if either Mark or Seb win the race with Alonso coming 3rd…they’ve had it! I think it’s probably a good idea to hire someone to “take care” of Fernando….
That’d be ironic…you know…considering Ferrari’s tactics in the past….

On the subject of Team orders:
F1 is supposed to be a team sport, so why are team orders so bad. I think it’s more an issue of timing and not the concept. If you have one pilot in contention for the title while the other is out of it…it’s a fair call. If both are contenders it’s a lot tougher.
In Red Bull’s case if Sebastian is leading the race with Mark behind him and Alonso Out…they should let them fight it out, but if he’s on 4th or 5th…then there is no point in letting Sebastian win coz he cannot win the title…..they (RB & Vettel) should let Mark go through and win it.
