As much as it was a brilliant day for Euro GP winner Rubens Barrichello, it was an awful afternoon for his teammate Jenson Button.

Lewis Hamilton took a convincing pole at the European GP in Valencia today, confirming that his McLaren is now genuinely fast and that his first win of the year in Hungary wasn’t simply a fluke.

Renault’s Fernando Alonso posted the quickest time of the day during practice for the Euro GP in Valencia, despite having a spin and driving into BMW’s Nick Heidfeld during the session.

Quali at the German GP today was definitely the most exciting one of the year so far. Loads of changes at the front, and some scary moments provided by the rain.

Political wrangling aside, today’s practice sessions were pretty much as you’d expect, following on from the form of previous races.
