Lewis Hamilton took a convincing pole at the European GP in Valencia today, confirming that his McLaren is now genuinely fast and that his first win of the year in Hungary wasn’t simply a fluke.

The Valencia race was as boring to watch from trackside as Bill Thomas assures me it was from his armchair. I was there (at the track, not Bill’s armchair) and after a couple of laps it was apparent that this was not going to be a classic event.

Oops, fell asleep before the first stops. Usually I fall asleep between the first and second stops on dull circuits. This one is especially dull. A complete and utter failure in my book. It’s halfway through and I’ve switched it off. Bernie, the circuit is a disaster.
