Yesterday was the turn of the “Q1 massive” — Caterham, Marussia and HRT, bless em. Two of them got an A for effort; it’s hard not to be impressed with their doggedness and, in the case of HRT and Marussia, the raw fact that they are making their cars faster. Relatively of course.
Luckless in both Bahrain and Australia, Adrian Sutil was due a change of fortunes in this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix – but the young German very much made his own luck in Sepang as he impressively kept a faster Lewis Hamilton at bay throughout the closing stages to clinch an excellent and well-deserved fifth place.
Mercedes-Benz is set to buy a chunk of championship leaders Brawn GP, according to F1’s rumour mill. The German manufacturer already has a long-standing stake in McLaren, and supplies engines to Force India, but it’s apparently keen to tie up something more substantial with the Brackley-based team.
