The weekend kicked off with the press conference in a small room – unfortunate as this was the best attended of all 18 Thursday press conferences. The seats were quickly filled with journalists, leaving standing room only, much to the annoyance of photographers herded in at the back.

Lewis Hamilton could actually become world champion on Sunday at the Chinese GP, which is pretty amazing for British fans, when you think we’ve not had a world champion since Damon Hill back in 1996. The chances are pretty slim that he’ll do it mind, but it’s definitely possible.

A laser message projected onto the pit buildings says: ‘First F1 Night Race. Thank you for being a part of history.’
History indeed, but F1 people should be thanking the Singapore organisers for a simply superb job. And, just to round off an exceptional weekend, we had an exceptional race.
