Japanese GP: practice

Timo Glock may have snuck in the fastest time of anyone during free practice in Japan this morning, but in the all-important championship title battle, Lewis Hamilton edged Ferrari’s Felipe Massa on the time sheet. If only by three hundreths of a second.

Monza GP: paddock view

Here’s a summary of paddock view points on the Lewis/Kimi incident from last weekend: Had Hamilton followed Raikkonen through the chicane in the normal way, he would not have been close enough – or, certainly, not as close as he was – when the pair crossed the start/finish line.

Hungarian GP: Heikki’s luck

When Felipe Massa was sitting in the Ferrari caravan after the race, listening to the Finnish anthem being played for winner Heikki Kovalainen, I imagine the Brazilian must have felt a bit like when you discover that your girlfriend used to be a man.

Hungarian GP: quali

What a difference a year makes. This was the race in 2007 when the McLaren team began to tear itself apart as Hamilton and Alonso worked to their own agendas during qualifying. 12 months later, Hamilton and Kovalainen are best mates after giving McLaren the front row for the first time since Monza last year.
